Product Description
Barcelos cockerel drawing print with Pop colours, the famous Portuguese icon is revisited in an original and fresh-coloured way!
Pois likes: the pop colours of this Barcelos cockerel drawing print. This drawing has been made by Lis Gonçalves. She is a self taught Portuguese artist born in South Africa. When Lis explains her work, she says that she puts Portuguese symbols on paper and artistically colours them “through the eyes of a child”. For our part, we would simply say that her drawings are “happy and joyful”. For the little story, this rooster is known to bring happiness and luck. A long time ago, a man from Galicia had been falsely accused and sentenced to death in the city of Barcelos, he was finally saved by the miraculous intervention of a cockerel: “If I am innocent, the cock will crow.” The cock crowed and the prisoner was allowed to go free.
Pois testimonials: “This Barcelos cockerel drawing print is a nice and original gift from Portugal in a combination of two or four drawings, framed in white (the size is made to go in a Ikea frame). It is fresh-coloured and will bring good energy in your home.“
